Smart CDL Academy offers CDL endorsement training right here in the DFW Metroplex. Passenger and School Bus endorsements — regular offerings. HazMat, Tanker, Doubles/Triples, and Combination — available by request. Each endorsement adds specialized qualifications to your existing Class A or Class B CDL. Smart CDL Academy is approved by the Texas Department of Public Safety as a Third-Party Skills Testing provider (TPST #0221). Eligible applicants may complete CDL skills testing at our Irving facility, subject to applicable requirements and scheduling.

The HazMat (H) endorsement authorizes you to transport hazardous materials as defined by federal DOT regulations. It requires a TSA security threat assessment — a federal background check through the Transportation Security Administration — in addition to a written exam.

Full HazMat Endorsement DetailsThe Tanker (N) endorsement is required to operate tank vehicles carrying liquid or gaseous cargo.

Full Tanker Endorsement DetailsThe Passenger (P) endorsement qualifies you to transport 16 or more passengers. It requires both a written exam and a CDL skills test in a passenger vehicle — separate from the standard CDL test you already passed.

Full Passenger Endorsement DetailsThe School Bus (S) endorsement authorizes you to operate school buses specifically. It requires a written exam, a CDL skills test, and a state-required background check. Note: the S endorsement requires you to also hold or obtain the Passenger (P) endorsement — both can be pursued together at our Irving campus.
